Preferred Teaching Styles: Gentle, Classical Yoga
Allison began her yoga practice in 1999 practicing Ashtanga and vinyasa-style yoga. She viewed her practice as a “meditation in motion”. She was drawn to the benefits of a physical practice; connecting the mind and body through the breath, becoming more present, gaining strength and flexibility, reducing stress, and learning how to truly relax. Her curiosity was piqued and she wanted to learn more about yoga and yoga philosophy. When she discovered the YogaLife Institute’s Teacher Training program, she was able to expand her understanding and her practice to embrace a lifestyle approach that includes the mental, spiritual and philosophical elements as well as a gentler form. She completed her 200 hour training, advanced 300 hour training and an additional advanced 300 hr training in Comprehensive Yoga Therapy. Recognizing the benefits and tools she has gained from her trainings and her practice, she believes yoga has been a gift in her life and she enjoys sharing it with others. Outside the studio, she continues her practice by breathing deeply, smiling and being mindful in her day-to- day life. She also likes to cycle, mountain bike, downhill ski, cross country ski, Zentangle, embrace minimalism, live simply, goof around with her two sons and make kombucha with her husband.
